Pedagogy
Working with the next generation of designers.
Mentorship
As a volunteer, I mentor aspiring, junior, and mid-level designers across the world, helping them to break in and excel in the industry. Click below if you'd like to schedule a time with me.
Instruction
Previously, I led UX Design programs for 100+ students at General Assembly, mentoring designers, crafting curriculum, and lecturing on design thinking, accessibility, interaction design, and more. I love teaching and working to solve the broken design education system.
About
I'm a user experience designer, strategist, and educator, focused on creating accessible, understandable, and meaningful digital experiences.
Throughout my career, I've tried to follow some guiding principles to respect, empower, and advocate for all users. Some tenets of my design philosophy are to be:
Inclusive
I believe in the power of including and learning from all people with a range of perspectives, and I believe that accessibility can never be an after-thought.
Intuitive
As Steve Krug wrote, “Don’t Make Me Think”. I place a heavy emphasis on cognitive load, plain language, and learnability of products.
Invisible
A perfect design goes unnoticed. Our products are the means to an end for users, not a piece of art to marvel at.
What stands out about my career is the breadth of work. My resume includes leading an agency's design practice, in-house product design, freelance contracts with start-ups, teaching UX Design, and most recently directing design in my current role at Dotdash Meredith.
